Summary: Android 16 Beta 4 especially brings a new feature called “Robust Open/Close Detection” for the Pixel Fold and Pixel 9 Pro fold, which helps them to detect their folded condition better, especially when using magnetic goods such as magasaf. Designed to prevent glitter like unwanted screen infections caused by Kaj sensor intervention, the settings can be enabled under display and touch. However, Google has warned that this battery can a bit affecting life. Full Android 16 release is expected to hit the pixel hit in June, in which most user-supporting features are saved for future pixel features drops.

With Android 16 Beta 4, Google has launched a new setting called “Robust Open/Close Detection”, which is actually going to be available only on Pixel fold and Pixel 9 Pro folds. What this feature does, it increases the ability to accurately determine the capacity of the pixel fold whether the device is opened or closed. This is particularly useful when you are using magnetic goods such as Magsafe products and cases.

As we have learned over the years, these goods can intervene with the Kaj angle sensor, which leads to issues with pixel folds, such as unexpected screen infections or app switching are displayed unexpectedly.

This feature is available in Settings app and by tapping on display and touch. The option is located near the lower part of the page. Google also warns users that it can increase the use of batteries and thus affect your battery life.

Android is ready to roll out in 16 June

While Google rolled out the final scheduled bet for Android 16 tomorrow, the final stable update for Android 16 should be available from starting in June. According to our sources, on which we have already reported, Android will go to AOSP on 16 June.

As has happened in the last few years, this is not so prominent on the Android update surface. Most changes are going to be under-hood, or this strong open/close detection. Most user-support facilities are going to be released in Pixel feature drops.
