Kaduna Statistician-General says statistics is important for economic development


Kaduna State Statistician-General, Bukar Alhaji, has described statistics as an important tool for economic growth and development.

Alhaji said this during an endurance walk organized by the Kaduna State Bureau of Statistics to commemorate the World Statistics Day in Kaduna.

He explained that the Endurance Walk was part of a series of activities aimed at creating awareness on the importance of accurate and harmonized data in effective policy formulation and implementation.

In his remarks, Matthew Alkali, Director of Research and ICT at the Bureau, emphasized that the importance of data in governance cannot be overemphasized.

He said reliable data plays a vital role in helping the government take informed decisions that positively impact citizens.

Also, Hajiya Fatima Ibrahim, Deputy Director of Census and Survey, said that the essence of celebrating the day was to sensitize the public on the importance of data in policy-making.

He urged organizations across the state to cooperate with the Bureau by providing accurate information whenever required.

Ibrahim commended the Kaduna State Government for its continuous support and pledged to collaborate with all relevant agencies to ensure data coherence for effective planning and development.
