Lawmaker provides free healthcare to 1,000 residents of Adamawa community


Senator Binos Dauda Yaro, representing Adamawa Senatorial District, has provided free health services to about 1000 constituents in Dashen community of Jada Local Government Area.

According to the medical team, treatment was provided to 972 patients including 23 major and minor surgeries in the one-day medical outreach organized at Deshen Primary Health Care Center (PHCC).

Procedures conducted included herniorrhaphy (hernia repair), appendectomy, hydrocelectomy and lumpectomy, among others. Many other cases ranging from high blood pressure, diabetes, malaria, typhoid, anemia, peptic and pelvic inflammatory diseases were also treated. All patients received free medicines.

Addressing journalists after the exercise, Adediran Charles Adekola, Consultant General Surgeon and member of the outreach team at Modibbo Adama University Teaching Hospital (MAUTH) Yola, said the intervention recorded high turnout and smooth conduct.

“We treated 972 cases with 23 surgeries completed. Specific cases have been referred to MAUTH Yola,” he said.

“If one person is sick, it affects the entire community, a society cannot move ahead of the health status of its people, which is why health remains the top priority for Senator Binos.” he added

Roseline Aston, PHCC Dashen's facilities manager, expressed gratitude for the gesture, noting that it was the first time the community was seeing such extensive outreach. He praised the professionalism of the medical team and described them as the best he has ever worked with.

He also stressed that all services are completely free of charge and urged residents to take advantage of the program. He commended the District Head of Nyibango-Dashen for uniting the community members.

Earlier in his address, the District Head and Wamban Ghani, Ahmadu Baba Kebugangso commended Senator Binos for bringing relief to his people. Describing it as an unprecedented intervention in the history of Dashen, he assured the senator of the continued support of the community as the 2027 general elections approach.

Some of the beneficiaries, Abubakar Dashen, beauty Ayuba Komsiri, who had been battling the disease for 12 years, said she has regained her health after receiving treatment at the outreach.

He thanked Binos for his kind gesture towards the community.

This outreach is part of the ongoing health care interventions spearheaded by Senator Yaro in the Adamawa Southern Senatorial District.
