Nigerian President Bola Tinubu has expressed his heartfelt condolences to British-Nigerian boxing champion Anthony Joshua following a fatal road accident on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway in Ogun State on Monday.
Two people reportedly lost their lives and Joshua was injured in the accident. It is being told that he is being given medical attention and his condition is stable.

In a message shared through his official X (formerly Twitter) handle, President Tinubu expressed his condolences to Joshua and the families of those who lost their lives in the incident.
“I express my deepest condolences to you following the tragic accident that occurred on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway that claimed two precious lives and left you injured,” Tinubu said.
The President described the incident as particularly painful, given that it occurred during the festive season.

“This immense tragedy casts a deep shadow over this season,” he said.
Tinubu said he joins Joshua and his family in grief over the loss of life and emotional trauma caused by the accident.
“I sympathize with you and your family as you bear the emotional burden of this unfortunate incident,” he said.
He praised Joshua's discipline, courage and patriotism and described the boxing star as a constant source of national pride.
The President said, “As a sportsperson, you have shown courage, discipline and unwavering love for our country, making you a source of national pride.”
Tinubu also urged Nigerians to support each other in moments of grief and adversity.
“In such moments, we must encourage each other as brothers and sisters with a shared destiny,” he said.
The President concluded his remarks by praying for the speedy recovery of Joshua and eternal rest for those killed in the accident.
“May God grant you strength, wisdom and grace, speedy recovery and may the souls of the departed rest in peace,” Tinubu prayed.
