Residents of Kano State experienced intense security enforcement in 2025 as the State Police Command conducted extensive operations that led to thousands of arrests and significant seizures of illegal items.
Between January and December 30, 2025, police officials arrested 3,081 persons linked to various criminal activities across the state.
The Kano State Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Adamu Bakori, made this known on Tuesday during the year-end security briefing at the command headquarters in Bompai, Kano.

According to the Commissioner, the arrests were the result of sustained anti-crime efforts targeting crimes such as armed robbery, kidnapping, drug-related crimes, fraud, theft of vehicles and three-wheelers and street violence.
He said a large number of those arrested were suspected swindlers, while 2,350 people were detained for swindling-related offences.
Police operations during this period resulted in the rescue of kidnap victims and recovery of a wide variety of items including firearms, ammunition, sharp weapons, stolen vehicles, motorcycles, tricycles, livestock, mobile phones, POS devices, ATMs and SIM cards. Large quantities of illicit drugs – such as cannabis, tramadol, diazepam, pregabalin, codeine syrup, xol and other narcotics were also seized.
Bakori attributed his achievements to better patrolling, intelligence-driven policing, inter-agency cooperation and targeted initiatives like Operation Kukan Kura launched to curb fraud and phone snatching.
He assured residents that the command will maintain and strengthen these security measures till 2026 to further enhance public safety across the state.
