NNPP Kano Chairman denies expulsion, says leadership crisis in the party will be resolved soon

Chairman of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) in Kano State, Hashimu Dungurwa, has rejected claims that he has been removed from office, describing reports of his removal and alleged defection as baseless and deliberately misleading.

Speaking with newsmen in Kano on Tuesday, Dungurwa said he remains the duly recognized chairman of the party in the state, stressing that neither the state nor the national leadership of the NNPP has taken any decision to remove him.

His comments come amid growing speculation over internal disagreements and leadership struggle within the Kano chapter of the party.

Dungurwa disclosed that the National Leader of the NNPP and former Governor of Kano State, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, is currently consulting with key stakeholders at various levels of the party to strengthen unity and reposition the NNPP for future political contests.

According to him, the programs that are underway are aimed at resolving internal concerns and strengthening unity within the party. He said commendable progress has been made so far and assured that party members and the public will be appropriately briefed at the conclusion of the process.

The NNPP President urged party supporters to maintain calm and patience and stressed that internal mechanisms were being followed to resolve all pending issues.

Responding to reports that he was expelled by some individuals from his ward, Dungurwa dismissed the claim as invalid and lacking constitutional basis. He described the alleged action as “irrelevant” and argued that it had no legal or political significance within the party.

He pointed out that the NNPP has established disciplinary procedures which cannot be ignored by some disgruntled members, adding that no ward has the right to expel the State Chairman without due process and ratification by the appropriate party organs.

While reaffirming his loyalty to the NNPP and the Kwankwasia movement, Dungurwa warned against attempts by outside forces to destabilize the party in Kano through misinformation and internal strife.
