The Adamawa State Government has announced the cancellation of all activities previously scheduled to mark the Cross-Over Night celebration at the Unity Fly-over in Jimeta, Yola from the night of Wednesday, December 31, 2025, to the morning of Thursday, January 1, 2026.
According to the government, the decision has been taken following credible intelligence reports indicating potential security threats associated with large public gatherings at the venue during this period.
Officials said the step has been taken as a proactive measure to protect life and property, stressing that the safety and security of residents is the top priority of the state government.
A statement issued by the government said it was “working closely with security agencies to assess the situation and ensure continued peace and stability across the state.”

The statement emphasized that although the cancellation may cause inconvenience to some residents, the measure is necessary to prevent any potential breach of security.
The government has advised residents, especially those in Yola North and Yola South local government areas, to remain vigilant, avoid crowded places and fully cooperate with security agencies during the festive period.
Members of the public were also urged to immediately report any suspicious movements or activities to the nearest security post or relevant authorities.
The Adamawa State Government assured citizens that adequate security arrangements have been made across the state to ensure a peaceful transition into the new year.
He said further updates will be provided to the public as the situation evolves. Residents were encouraged to celebrate responsibly within their homes and communities while following safety advice issued by authorities.
