Reviving industries in Aba will eliminate unemployment – ​​Otti


Abia State Governor Alex Oti has said his administration is addressing unemployment by reviving key industries in the state.

Governor Otti, stated this at the NGWA High School, Aba, during the 2025 NGWA Day celebration organized by the NGWA Social Club, a socio-cultural group in the 7 NGWA Local Government Areas (LGAs) in Abia State.

Governor Oti, who explained that he is prioritizing job creation and security in the state through the revival of moribund industries to sustain the ongoing transformation in the state, disclosed that, he is currently in discussion with the Lebanese to revive the Aba Textile Mill, adding that another discussion is ongoing regarding the International Glass Industry and Meteorological Plant.

The Governor urged the people to remain patient and assured them of more changes in various sectors as the government works to reposition the state.

He commended the choice of the state's first Attorney-General, Theo Nkire, as the newly appointed leader of the Ngwa Nation and congratulated him on his emergence, describing it as a well-deserved honor and expressed his full support for the decision.

The State Chief Executive also appreciated the NGWA leaders for participating in the Cultural Day celebrations and stressed the need to preserve the NGWA cultural heritage.

Governor Oti used the occasion to disclose that Jaja Wachuku, the first leader of the Ngwa people, will be honored with the celebration of his 108th posthumous birthday in Nsulu by the Abia State Government on January 1, 2026, and invited him to attend.

In their goodwill message, Eninnaya Abaribe, Augustine Akobundu and Nkechi Nworgu jointly expressed their deep appreciation to the Governor for taking time out from his busy schedule to be personally present at the occasion.

He described the Governor's presence as a strong display of leadership, humility and respect for the people and commended the Governor for his many achievements across the state, noting that his administration has recorded remarkable progress in infrastructural development, human capital advancement and overall governance.

Former President of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN), Chidi Ajegbu, described the event as an opportunity for the Ngwa people to showcase their rich cultural heritage, and commended the organizers for its success.

He said that in less than three years, Abia State has witnessed significant transformation in various sectors and called on the people of Nagwa to continue supporting the Governor to consolidate the gains recorded so far.

Chairman of the occasion, Orjinta Alala, said the event also provided an opportunity for the people of Ngwa land to elect a leader who will speak for them and articulate their collective position on issues of concern, as the Ngwa people had observed a one-year mourning for their former leader, the late Emmanuel Adalu and have now resolved to appoint Theo Nkire as their new leader.
