PPA awarded contract for expansion of Bohol port

The Philippine Ports Authority (PPA) said it has handed over the P501.95 million Getafe Port Expansion Project in Bohol to BNR Construction and Development Corporation.

The regulator awarded the contract to the Mandu-based construction company, which had submitted the lowest bid among 11 contenders, the PPA said in a notice dated December 18.

The PPA said BNR Construction would have 660 calendar days to complete the project. The project includes the construction of a port operations area.

The port of Getafe in northern Bohol is opposite the city of Cebu on the Seibu Strait.

In 2024, the PPA said it earmarked up to P16 billion for infrastructure projects through 2028. Funds will be allocated to enhance the efficiency and capacity of the port, including 14 big ticket projects targeted for completion within this period.

PPA said cargo and passenger transportationmarginal forceIC has been stronger than expected last year, with the target expected to be exceeded due to a demand peak in the fourth quarter of 2025.

The regulator had targeted a cargo throughput of 301.47 million metric tons, while container volume is projected to reach eight million twenty-foot equivalent units. , Ashley Erica O. jose
