The Catholic Archbishop of Kaduna, Matthew Man-Oso Ndagoso, has called on the government and security agencies to secure the release of Rev. Fr. Bobbo Pascal and the other victims are locked in the kidnappers' hideout.
The Archbishop stressed that the primary responsibility of any government is the security of life and property, warning that persistent insecurity poses a serious threat to peace and national stability.
Ndagoso made the call yesterday in reaction to the kidnapping of Rev. Fr. Bobbo Pascal, who was abducted from his residence in Kushe Gugdu, Kagarko Local Government Area of Kaduna State, in the early hours of November 17.
He described the incident as extremely disturbing and reflective of the deteriorating security situation, especially in rural communities which are increasingly becoming targets of criminal attacks.
The Archbishop expressed concern over the safety of the kidnapped priest and others in captivity, urging security agencies to intensify rescue efforts and ensure their safe return.
Ndagoso further called on authorities to dismantle the kidnapping syndicate and ensure that the perpetrators are caught and prosecuted to serve as a deterrent to others.
He also appealed to governments at all levels to address the causes of insecurity by investing in job creation, education and social development initiatives.
The Archbishop urged Christians and residents of the affected communities to remain calm, pray and support security agencies by providing useful information when necessary.
