Class54 launches AI tool to support JAMB, WAEC candidates ahead of 2026 exams

Class54, a Nigerian education technology platform, has launched new artificial intelligence-powered features designed to support students preparing for the 2026 cycle of major secondary school examinations including the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), WAEC and Post-UTME.

The rollout comes as registration for the 2026 UTME is expected to commence in the coming weeks, a period that typically triggers increased demand for exam preparation tools among secondary school leavers and their families.
Founded to address gaps in access to quality test preparation, Class54 says it has supported over 300,000 students across Nigeria through mobile-based practice tests, offline learning resources and online instruction. The latest update expands the platform's use of AI to deepen learning outcomes while remaining accessible to students with limited internet connectivity.

At the heart of the update is an AI-powered explanation feature that provides step-by-step reasoning for exam questions, especially in a myriad of subjects like math and physics. Unlike traditional practice apps that focus on final answers, the system explains how solutions are derived, a design the company says aims to strengthen conceptual understanding and reduce rote learning.

Class54 has also introduced live online lessons, allowing students to attend real-time virtual classes led by subject instructors. The sessions are structured around curriculum coverage and exam strategies, with interactive elements aimed at replicating classroom interaction in a digital environment.

According to Oluwasegun Ige, Chief Technology Officer of Class54, the technical challenge was to provide advanced features without sacrificing usability on low-end devices or high data costs.
“Delivering AI-powered explanations and live lessons in a lightweight mobile environment requires careful optimization,” Ige said. “Our priority was to ensure that the platform remained usable even with limited data access, while preserving robust offline functionality.”

The platform continues to provide full offline access to JAMB and WAEC questions over the past 25 years, as well as a voice-enabled assistant that reads exam literature and summaries aloud – features targeted at students in areas with unstable internet access.

Class54 operates a single subscription model that covers JAMB, WAEC and Post-UTME preparation, with the company saying it aims to reduce the financial burden on students who often rely on multiple exam preparation tools.

With Nigeria's examination season increasingly being shaped by digital learning solutions, Class54 says the latest update is aimed at complementing rather than replacing traditional study methods as students prepare for the 2026 examinations. The mobile application is available on Android and iOS platforms.
