AFCON 2025: NFF rejects substitute bias concerns ahead of Nigeria-Morocco clash
Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) President, Ibrahim Gusau has played down concerns over possible biased officiating ahead of Nigeria’s Super Eagles 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) semi-final clash against hosts Morocco in Rabat on Wednesday night.

“I don't have as much fear of match officials being biased as some people do,” Gusau said.
“I don't see a situation in which match officials would act against the interests of a team,” Gussou said. The NFF boss recalled Nigeria's recent experience in Morocco as evidence that there is nothing to worry about.

“Last summer, we were here in Morocco for the Women's Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON), and we played against the host country in the final, even coming from two goals down to win. There is nothing to be afraid of.
He said, “This is the highest level of football on the African continent and the officials know the whole world is watching. They will not do anything untoward.”
Gusau's comments come amid concerns from a section of Nigerian supporters that match officials may favor the host nation, who are chasing a second AFCON title.
