Kwara State Government has reaffirmed its strong commitment to promoting and supporting local production as a key driver of economic growth and sustainable development in the state.
The Commissioner for Finance, Hauwa Nuru, gave the assurance during a courtesy visit to his office by the Muslimah Entrepreneur Business Forum, ahead of the upcoming Pre-Ramadan Business Case.
Nuru described the Pre-Ramadan Trade Affair as a strategic platform to increase the visibility, accessibility and competitiveness of locally manufactured goods.

He said that this initiative is in line with the broader agenda of the state government to empower indigenous producers and strengthen the local economy.
“The trade fair provides an important opportunity to showcase our local products and connect our entrepreneurs to wider markets. The Kwara State Government is committed to supporting local production and ensuring that our goods and services meet the required standards to compete effectively,” Babatunde Toyin Abdulrasheed, press secretary of the ministry, said in a statement.
He stressed the important role of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in driving inclusive economic growth, employment generation and community development. According to her, empowering local entrepreneurs—especially women-owned businesses—is essential to building a resilient and self-reliant economy.
Nuru assured the Forum of the State Government's continued support for initiatives that promote enterprise development, ethical trade and sustainable livelihoods, noting that collaboration with stakeholders remains central to achieving these objectives.
He equally commended the organizers of the Pre-Ramadan Trade Affair and reaffirmed the government's readiness to partner in future initiatives to encourage local production and contribute to the economic development of the state.
Earlier, Muslima Entrepreneur Business Forum convener Saliu Fatima sought support from the Finance Ministry and invited the state government to participate in the Pre-Ramadan Trade Affair 3.0.
He informed that this initiative focuses on economic empowerment, ethical business practices and sustainable development among Muslim entrepreneurs.
Fatima said the Pre-Ramadan Business Case serves as an important platform for enterprise development, job creation and community impact in preparation for the holy month of Ramadan.
He said that government participation and support will significantly grow the event and inspire hundreds of women-owned businesses striving for excellence and meaningful contribution to the society.
