When the Board and Management of Transcorp Hotels Plc, a subsidiary of Transnational Corporation Plc (Transcorp Group), announced the appointment of Uzo Oshogwe as the new Managing Director/CEO of the leading hospitality company with effect from January 1, 2025, many staff members and stakeholders were excited.
Their enthusiasm stemmed from the anticipated breath of fresh air that Oshogwe would bring to the table, while others were keen to continue the legacy of his predecessor Modupe Olushola, who during his tenure took the Transcorp Hotels brand, particularly service, convenience offerings and revenues up a notch.
Over the course of a year on the job, Osogwe has been praised for his impressive performance. Their major focus can be on expansion drives, enhancing product and feature offerings and operating in line with world best practices.
To some industry observers, Oshogwe brought over 30 years of excellent leadership experience with key roles at United Bank for Africa, Accenture UK and Afriland Properties Plc to his new role at Transcorp Hotels Plc over the past year.
At the same time, his proven expertise in driving strategic growth and delivering value aligns perfectly with the vision of Nigeria’s leading hospitality company.
In 2025 and under Osogwe, Transcorp Hotels Plc achieved several industry and business achievements. One of the main highlights was the commissioning of the Transcorp Centre, a new 5,000-seat event centre, which is undoubtedly a strategic business milestone.
Indeed, the world-class Transcorp Centre, a major investment, has expanded the company's footprint in the meetings, incentives, conferences, exhibitions (MICE) industry, while establishing Abuja as a leading convention destination in Nigeria and West Africa.
Afreximbank's general meetings, the 68th meeting of the United Nations Tourism Regional Commission for Africa (CAF), among other high profile events, attracted world leaders and industry luminaries to the Transcorp Center in 2025, attesting to its ability to host global events amid world-class facilities.
Nevertheless, Transcorp Hotels Plc has maintained its impressive financial achievements with growth in revenues and profits under Osogwe's leadership.

In the first quarter of 2025 (Q1), Transcorp Hotels reported revenue of N21.0 billion, representing a 52 per cent increase from the performance of Q1 2024.
The hospitality company achieved the feat with an impressive half year (H1 2025) performance, with revenue increasing by 60 per cent year-on-year to N47.57 billion.
Additionally, gross profit increased by 71 percent, and an interim dividend of over N1 billion (10 kobo per share) was approved, reflecting strong shareholder returns.
In the third quarter (Q3 2025), the performance was equally stellar with N72.31 billion, representing an increase of 49 per cent year-on-year, while profit before tax (PBT) increased by 36 per cent to N22.4 billion, with gross profit margin expanding to 76 per cent.
Meanwhile, the impressive revenue earnings reflect operational efficiency and strong service delivery, courtesy of Transcorp Hotels Plc's skilled leadership and support team.
Again, under his leadership, shareholders received greater value and returns on their investments, while huge and consistent earnings positively impacted the market, attracting more investment into the hospitality industry.
Shareholders were encouraged by the sustainable financial performance and strong dividend, particularly as Transcorp Hotels first entered the ₦1 trillion market capitalization club on the Nigerian bourse – a significant milestone reflected within its strong performance trajectory.
To date, it is the first and only hotel company in Nigeria to achieve the ₦1 trillion market capitalization milestone on the Nigerian Exchange.
Also, amid the awards and honors in 2025, the impressive performance of the hotel company under Osogwe caught the attention of many.
Transcorp Hotels Plc was recognized as one of the fastest growing companies in Africa by Statisticians, published in the Financial Times, while Africa Business Magazine recognized the company as one of the Top 250 Companies in Africa for the year 2025.
Transcorp Hotels Plc also won big at the 2025 Seven Star Luxury Awards in Portugal, where it was awarded three outstanding awards: Best Luxury Business Hotel (Nigeria and Africa); Best Luxury Event and Conference Center (Nigeria and Africa), won by Transcorp Center and Best CEO of the Year, won by Uzomaka Oshogwe – for transformational leadership and visionary growth.
As always, Transcorp Hilton Plc also continued its dominance under Oshogwe's leadership at the World Travel Awards 2025, where Transcorp Hilton Abuja won five major honors, including: Nigeria's Leading Business Hotel; Nigeria's leading city hotel; Nigeria's leading hotel; Nigeria's leading hotel suite (Presidential Suite) and Africa's leading business hotel.
