Tonyboy Liao-led PNVF receives blessing from FIVB, the sport's governing body

The Philippine National Volleyball Federation (PNVF) can now focus on strengthening the national team program, as its new group of officials led by President Tonyboy Liao recently received the blessing of the FIVB, or the sport's world governing body.

“Our focus is always on the progress of Philippine volleyball,” Mr. Liao said after FIVB legal and general counsel head Stephen Bock wrote a letter to the PNVF from Lausanne, Switzerland on Friday confirming his presidency.

“The FIVB informs you that the election process in the Philippine National Volleyball Federation meets legal and administrative requirements in compliance with FIVB rules,” Mr. Bock said.

“Thus, FIVB confirms that your elections are recognized by FIVB and all our records, including the FIVB website directory, will be updated,” he said.

Asked if Tai Bundit has taken over the Alas Pilipinas women's coaching job, Mr. Liao said it is up to the PNVF board and Tai's boss at Cris Cross, where the former Spikers have a current mentor at Turf – Jonathan Ng.

“It will be approved by the executive board by the end of the month after my meeting with Jojo Ng,” he said. — joey villar
