Kano State Governor, Abba Yusuf, is set to formally rejoin the All Progressives Congress (APC) on Monday, following his resignation from the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP).
The move comes days after Yusuf announced his exit from the NNPP along with a large group of elected officials in the state. Those who resigned along with the governor include 21 members of the Kano State Assembly, eight members of the House of Representatives and all 44 local government chairmen in the state.
In a statement issued on Sunday, the governor's spokesperson, Bature Tofa, said Yusuf's decision was driven by his political trajectory and the belief that the APC offers a more familiar and organized platform for governance.

According to Tofa, Yusuf first joined the APC in 2014 after emerging as the party's candidate for the Kano Central senatorial seat. He later stepped down for former state governor Rabiu Kwankwaso, saying the move reflected his long-standing relationship with the ruling party.
The spokesperson said Yusuf believes returning to the APC will improve cooperation between Kano and the federal government, especially in the areas of security coordination, infrastructure development and service delivery.
He said the decision is also aimed at promoting political stability and unity within the state.
Tofa said the governor would join 22 state legislators, eight members of the House of Representatives and 44 local government chairmen to officially register as APC members in Kano on Monday.
Yusuf is also expected to formally launch the electronic membership registration process of the APC in the state on the same day.
