At Villa Park, Unai Emery's side continued their inconsistent performance at home. Anton Stach stunned the hosts with a superb 40-yard free kick from a tight angle, which caught Emiliano Martínez off guard at his near post.
Under Daniel Farke, Leeds have now lost just twice in their last 16 matches, reducing any worries of being stuck in a relegation battle. However, Tammy Abraham rescued a point for Villa by scoring an equalizer two minutes from time.
Due to the strong performances of English sides in European competition, with five Premier League clubs set to qualify for next season's Champions League, the race for the top-four (and top-five) spots remains intense.
Liverpool and Manchester United have the opportunity to strengthen the race when they face Nottingham Forest and Everton in the coming days.
