The Airport Police Command has arrested a 14-year-old male, identified as AK Miracle, in connection with attempted theft at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA), Lagos, on Monday, March 30, 2026.
The minor was found attempting to illegally enter an aircraft on the airport tarmac, an act that is a serious breach of aviation security protocols within a highly sensitive operational environment.

Preliminary findings indicate that the juvenile entered a restricted area of the airport illegally, without authorization, contrary to Sections 2 and 3 of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) bylaws, and engaged in actions consistent with an escape attempt.
Upon interception, the minor was taken into protective custody consistent with due process and established child protection procedures.
Their parents were immediately informed and all necessary protocols were followed, including conducting the interview process in the presence of their parents. The Command also ensured that proper care, support and welfare facilities were provided to the minor during the entire process.
The Commissioner of Police, Airport Police Command, Ogunbode Olufunke, reiterated the command's determination to safeguard the country's aviation infrastructure, describing the airport as a vital national asset that requires strict adherence to security regulations at all times.
Stressing that due process will be strictly followed, CP Ogunbode urged parents and guardians to exercise greater vigilance over their children and wards, especially with regard to activities around restricted and high-risk environments such as airports.
The command further notes that the case will be handled as per applicable juvenile justice procedures, and the minor will be charged before the appropriate Juvenile Court.
