AcMobility, the mobility arm of Ayala and a leading provider of electric vehicle (EV) charging solutions and infrastructure in the Philippines, expanded its nationwide EV charging network with the launch of a new charging station in Lucena City. Located within PTT Lucena and across from the Lucena City Government Complex, “the charging hub strengthens connectivity between the region, making long-distance EV travel possible to South Luzon and Bicol.”
Traditionally, EV travel from Manila to Bicol – a distance of about 450 km to 500 km – has been challenging due to limited charging options, ACMobility said in a release. “Lucena Station now serves as an important stop that supports long-distance travel along the southern corridor of Luzon.”
As more EV charging hubs open at strategic locations in Luzon, motorists can now travel farther with less range anxiety. The Lucena site “also offers a relaxing break for commuters, with restaurants and convenience stops nearby making it an ideal pitstop for longer drives,” ACMobility said.
Lucena station is equipped with modern charging facilities that meet a range of EV requirements. These include a 120 kW DC fast charger with two charge points for quick charging and a 22 kW AC charger with one charge point for standard use. ACMobility promised that capacity in the Lucena City area will soon increase with the addition of two more AC chargers at the huge Lucena station along Iwo Tourism Road. To serve more residents, commuters and future EV users. All chargers are supported by the Avro app, allowing users to locate stations, check availability, charge and pay with ease.
The site is said to be built for future e-mobility solutions, capable of supporting not only private EVs but also upcoming electrified public transportation such as e-jeepneys, fleets, and LGU-led mobility initiatives.
Due to its proximity to the new Lucena City Hall, the station also supports Lucena's efforts to pursue cleaner and more efficient mobility for its communities. The site provides the local government with convenient access to EV charging infrastructure that can complement future electrified transportation programs and other sustainability initiatives.
Lucena City Mayor Mark Alcalá commented, “We are building the city of Lucena as a gateway location for broader interregional mobility in the country.” “With this new charging infrastructure built in the heart of Lucena, we are enabling more EV owners to travel confidently from South Luzon to Bicol, helping to create a more sustainable and connected transportation ecosystem.”
The city government is also considering installing additional EV charging stations at LGU-owned properties across the city – to make EV charging more accessible to residents and visitors. By integrating EV infrastructure into city-owned locations, the local government hopes to encourage greater EV adoption and support the transition to a low-carbon mobility ecosystem.
The Lucena charging point is part of ACMobility's continued expansion of the Philippine EV Spine, the country's largest EV charging network, connecting major cities, transportation hubs, highways and key destinations across the country.
“Each new station means more freedom for EV drivers to go further and discover more. We want Filipinos to enjoy the journey as much as they do the destination, with the confidence that they can charge reliably along the way, anywhere in the country,” said Carla Buencamino, ACMobility Head of Mobility Infrastructure.
