The generative AI is re -shaping journalism because there are capabilities and tradeoffs; However, the main role of journalists is looking for stories and telling that no machine can be irreparable.

Speaking at Business's AI Summit 2025, experts said that while AI brings efficiency, scalability and innovation, Nigerian journalism requires deliberate strategy, literacy and safety measures to adopt its adoption.

He said, “The challenge is not opposed to AI, but in finding the right balance between automation and unique human decisions, which demands journalism,” he said.

He argued that if machines can effectively handle repetitive tasks such as search engine adaptation (SEO), journalists should hug them.

“For the roles that can be done by a machine, let them do these things. Every time we make a better equipment, there will be a trade-off. Outsourcing time gives journalists more space for intensive cognitive work,” Laol said.

Olattan Orelova, head of the AI ​​strategy at AI in Nigeria, referred to AI's ability to promote efficiency and scale. “By design, AI helps you be more efficient because it miracles how people work. It can make it much faster and faster than what we do in hours.”

He highlighted AI's ability to make the material accessible in local languages.
