Dance to address the plight of SEA domestic workers
Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP) and Goethe-Institut Filipinnen to present magical maidsA cultural ritual and dance performance that reflects the fear and oppression of women, from the witches of long ago to the maids of today. Conceived and choreographed by Aisa Joxon and Venuri Perera, the 80-minute performance looks through the lens of feminist resistance using the broom, a metaphor for shared experiences of prejudice and sacrifice, and a physical tool that connects both witches and maids. The performances will take place on November 7 and 8 at 5 pm and November 9 at 8 pm at the CCP Tanghalang Ignacio Jimenez (Black Box Theatre). On Nov. 9 at 11 a.m., Jocson and Pereira will lead a workshop called Broomology 101 in the lobby. Regular ticket is priced at P600, student discount ticket is priced at P300 upon presentation of valid ID. Another night for a night in Intramuros tour
After the sold-out dates of the popular One Night in Intramuros tourism, WanderManila has added two dates in November: on the 15thth and 16thBoth at 5pm Priced at P800 per person, this is Intramuros' definitive dark history tour where guests can see Manila in a darker, more sinister light. New UNICEF greeting cards are now available, created in collaboration with Ang Ilustrador ng Kabataan (Ang INK), a Filipino group of children's book illustrators. This partnership brings to life the Hiraya Collection, a new line of all-occasion cards and merchandise that turns art into a force for good.
