BAOSA targets alma mater infrastructure with N1B funds

Determined to transform the physical and technological infrastructure of their alma mater, the Baptist Academy Old Students Association (BAOSA) has launched a plan to raise N1 billion.

According to the association, the launch of the N1 billion BAOSA Infrastructure Development Fund (BIDF), which is aimed at transformational projects within the school, as the alumni class set has already launched impressive initiatives including renovation, scholarship programs and new facilities.

President of the association, Olumide Ajomale, said the fund is aimed at ensuring that the right infrastructure is created so that every student who receives education from an academy like Alma Mater is equipped to go out into the world and compete effectively.

Speaking at the 2025 Alumni Awards and Reunion Dinner in Lagos, Ajomale called on all stakeholders to recommit to the school's core values ​​of Christian discipline, academic excellence and service.

He paid tribute to the BAOSA leadership, planning committee and various partners who are helping to bring the anniversary vision to life, affirming that the Baptist Academy lives on through the lives that continue to shape it.

The colorful event crowned a three-month calendar of activities marking the 170th founding anniversary of Baptist Academy, one of Nigeria’s oldest and most enduring educational institutions.

The evening brought together alumni from across the world and from every generation from the 1950s to the 2000s in an atmosphere of nostalgia, camaraderie and a renewed commitment to the Academy's eternal values ​​of faith, character and learning.

Dignitaries present included Justice Wale Abiru of the Supreme Court of Nigeria; Chief Justice of Lagos State, Kazeem Alogba; Tokunbo Abiru, Chairman, Senate Committee on Banking, Insurance and Other Financial Institutions; Shuahib Olabode Agoro, Head of Service, Lagos State; Toyin Ashiru, Pro-Chancellor, Olabisi Onabanjo University; Tony Akiyotu, former Group Managing Director, DAAR Communications Plc; and Israel Christilere, Senior Pastor, Shepherdhill Baptist Church, Obanikoro.

In his welcome address, Chairman of the Planning Committee, Oyeyemi Onifade, commended the members for their continued dedication to the legacy of the school.

The highlight of the event was the presentation of Excellence Awards to the old students for their professional achievements and social impact.
