Ear to strengthen education with 2,616 new teachers


As a way to strengthen the recent achievement in the NECO exam results, the Kano State Government has ordered immediate recruitment of 2,616 qualified teachers to address comprehensive teacher-to-pupil ratio in public primary schools.

The government has also confirmed the absorption of 4,315 pre -better education service distribution for volunteer teachers of All (BSDA) in State Civil Services as permanent and pensionable workers.

The BesDA program supported by the World Bank in collaboration with the Ministry of Federal Education was designed to increase access to school out-of-school children, improve literacy in target states and strengthen accountability in basic education.

Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf on Thursday revealed during an official presentation of appointment letters to former -based teachers in Kano.

He said that his administration's commitment to the status of education declared education on education, given that the employment of volunteers teachers was one of a will for their confidence that education remains the foundation of human development.

“Today's event is an infallible sign of our concrete commitment to face challenges in the education sector. Since the establishment of this government, we have made tireless efforts to ensure that every school in the Kano state be able to provide functional, favorable and quality education to each school.

“To further strengthen the system, I have directed the State Universal Basic Education Board (Subeb) to start recruitment of additional 2,616 qualified teachers immediately. This will help us to achieve and maintain the prescribed teacher-to-posil ratio across the state.

He said, “I have also made mandatory to the Ministry of Education and all its agencies mandatory to monitor and evaluate our schools to make quality service distribution, adequate maintenance of facilities and to guarantee proper use of resources,” he said.

Joseph urged the newly employed teachers to emphasize the need to see their roles as going beyond the classroom, emphasize the need to maintain the original values, and the need to maintain moral standards among the students.

Kano State Commissioner for Education, Haruna Ali Makoda praised the recent high performance of Kano candidates in the 2025 NECO SSCE results, including better infrastructure and funding to the achievement of administration's investment in education.

Sabb President Yusuf Kabir reminded new teachers of their duty to take the government's trust, working as a joint team and did not disappoint the people of the Kano.
