Manchester City returned to winning ways with a comfortable 2-0 win over bottom-side Wolves in a Premier League match at the Etihad Stadium on Saturday.
First-half goals from Marmoush and Antoine Semenyo helped Pep Guardiola's side overturn their Champions League defeat to Bodø/Glimt and end Wolves' five-match unbeaten run in all competitions.
City had endured a difficult start to 2026, failing to win any of their opening four league matches. Guardiola opted to rest key players Erling Haaland and Phil Foden, leaving both on the bench, with the pair being introduced in the second half when City had already taken strong control.
Wolves prepared defensively with a five-man backline, but City dominated early and created chances almost at will in the early exchanges.
Newly signed Marc Guéhi made his debut with a goal inside almost five minutes, but his back-post header was comfortably caught by Wolves goalkeeper José Sá.
City took the lead late on when Marmoush headed home Mathias Nunes' cross from close range. Semenyo soon came close and caught the ball over the top, but his first-time effort was buried by Sa.
The hosts doubled their advantage on the stroke of half-time, effectively deciding the result. Bernardo Silva played a quick pass to Semenyo, who finished calmly from the edge of the area. The winger hit the crossbar late in the second half and City continued to dominate.
Wolves offered little in response, although Yerson Mosquera hit the crossbar with a flicked header late on. Rob Edwards' side have won just once all season so far and finish 14 points adrift of safety.
The win gives City a timely boost as they look to regain momentum in the Premier League after a poor start to the year.
