EPL: Slott rues lack of sophistication after Liverpool's draw against Leeds

Liverpool manager Arne Slot admitted that his team's dominance counts for less without moments of individual brilliance after the Reds' 0-0 draw against Leeds at Anfield in Thursday night's Premier League match.

Despite enjoying almost 70 percent of the ball at Anfield, the slot men struggled to break down a well-organised Leeds defense and ultimately suffered a frustrating stalemate.

The result extended Liverpool's unbeaten streak to nine matches, but it was another performance that underlined concerns about a lack of sophistication in attack.

“I think we're the team with the most ball possession in the league this season, but ball possession means nothing if you can't create enough chances,” Slott said.

“To create chances against a low block, you need speed and individual special moments to create overloads. Not for the first time this season, we saw a team that wanted it and played hard, but it was difficult for us to find openings.”

Liverpool in particular were without key attackers Mohamed Salah and Alexander Isak, the absence further reducing their attacking threat.

The draw leaves Liverpool fourth in the race for a Champions League spot, three points ahead of Chelsea and Manchester United, while Leeds extended their unbeaten run to six games and moved seven points clear of the relegation zone.
