I have no involvement in the expulsion of Wike, Fayose, Anyanu from PDP – Mutafwang

Plateau State Governor, Caleb Manasseh Mutafwang has distanced himself from the expulsion of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister, Nyesom Wike; Ayodele Fayose, former governor of Ekiti State; Senator Samuel Anyanwu; and other prominent leaders of the People's Democratic Party (PDP).

The governor made his position known in a statement issued by his Director of Press and Public Affairs, Gyang Bere, and made available to journalists on Saturday night in Jos.

Governor Muthapwang pointed out that the issue of expulsion was never discussed at the PDP Governors Forum nor the National Executive Committee (NEC) before the motion was tabled.

“The Acting Governor of Plateau State, Caleb Manasseh Mutafwang has formally distanced himself from the expulsion of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Minister and former Governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Wike; the former Governor of Ekiti State, Ayodele Fayose; Samuel Anyanwu as well as other leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)”; The statement said.

He stressed that this proposal in no way represents his stance on the matter.

The Governor described the move as ill-advised and ill-timed, especially at a time when the PDP is grappling with internal challenges that need to be dealt with carefully and strategically. According to him, such action could further widen the rift within the party rather than aid in efforts to restore stability.

He stressed that expelling key party leaders at this critical time would be counterproductive to the broader objective of reconciliation.

Mutafwang urged stakeholders to focus on actions that promote unity, build trust and strengthen cooperation within the party.

Reaffirming his commitment to a united PDP, Governor Mutafwang called for dialogue, patience and collective responsibility among members.

He expressed confidence that only through inclusive engagement can the party rebuild, reestablish itself and regain its position ahead of future political engagements.
