A suspected member of Boko Haram has reportedly confessed that he was paid N100,000 to carry out a bomb attack on a mosque in Maiduguri, Borno State.
This was revealed on Wednesday quoting security sources. According to reports, the suspect identified as Ibrahim Mohammed was arrested by troops of Operation Hadin Kai in collaboration with local hunters in Yobe State.

Security sources said the arrest was made during an intelligence-led raid in Damaturu following suspicions raised over the suspect's conduct. He was taken into custody and interrogated by security personnel.
During interrogation, the suspect reportedly confessed to his involvement in a deadly attack on a mosque in Maiduguri in December, which resulted in worshipers casualties.
The suspect is said to have also revealed that the operation was directed by terrorist commanders operating within the North-East region and that people appointed to carry out the attacks were paid.

Security sources further revealed that the suspect is believed to be part of a wider terror network planning coordinated attacks in parts of the North-East. The investigation is continuing to identify associates, sponsors and potential threats associated with the confession.
Following the arrest, troops were deployed to the areas reported by the suspect to ensure public safety and prevent further incidents. Security agencies have urged residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious objects or activities.
