Inspired by students sitting on bare floors, CSP Ruka Ruka supplies desks, bags, sandals to Ebonyi schools

What started as a concern over children learning on bare floors has turned into a lifeline of hope for hundreds of pupils in Ebonyi State, as a senior police officer, Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP), Nwode Nkeruka, popularly known as Ruka Ruka, distributed desks, school sandals and bags to pupils in selected public schools across the state.

When CSP Enwode discovered that many children were sitting on bare floors during lessons and were going to school without basic learning materials, the humanitarian gesture benefited over 1,000 pupils.

Eyewitnesses said that before the intervention, many pupils had no school bags or sandals, a situation that negatively affected their comfort, dignity and learning environment.

Speaking during the delivery, CSP Nwode said their action was motivated by the desire to support quality teaching and learning and improve the welfare of children in public schools. She said, “As part of giving back to the society, I was honored to support a public school by providing chairs, school sandals and school bags. It may seem small, but access to basic learning needs makes a real difference in the lives of our children.”

The police officer who hails from Ebonyi State also commended the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, for the opportunity and encouragement to serve communities beyond official duty. “I respectfully acknowledge the Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, PhD, NPM, for the opportunity and support to serve the community beyond the call of duty,” she said.

CSP Nwode is currently serving as the Police Public Relations Officer, Force Headquarters Annex, Lagos State.

Beyond this intervention, she is widely known for her humanitarian activities in Ebonyi State, including the construction of homes for poor widows, cementing her reputation as an officer whose service extended beyond the badge.
