Pafos winger Joao Correia made unwanted Champions League history by receiving the fastest red card in the history of the tournament just moments into his team's third-round match against Kairat on Tuesday.
The Cape Verde international was shown a straight red card after a reckless challenge on former Portugal U21 defender Luis Mata resulted in a dangerously high boot strike to his face.
English referee Chris Kavanagh wasted no time in reaching for his red card, causing the Cyprus debutants to play almost the entire match with 10 men.

The dismissal broke the previous record for the fastest dismissal in a Champions League match and effectively ended Paphos' hopes of claiming their first win in Europe's elite competition.
While Correa's moment of madness grabbed the headlines, the game also marked a milestone for former Chelsea and Arsenal defender David Luiz, who made Champions League history.
Luiz, aged 38 years and 161 days, lined out against Kairat captain Aleksandar Martynovich (38 years and 35 days), making it the first time in UEFA Champions League history that two outfield players aged 38 or older have started in the same match.
Luiz joined Paphos from Brazil in August and helped guide the Cypriot club to their first Champions League campaign. But despite their experienced presence, the night quickly descended into chaos after Correa's record-breaking red card.
