Ligue 1: Ethan Nwaneri scores on Marseille debut

Ethan Nwaneri marked his Marseille debut in style, scoring just 13 minutes after kick-off to help his new club secure a 3-1 result at Lens in their Ligue 1 match on Saturday.

Amine Ghauri's deflected strike gave Marseille an early lead at the Stade Velodrome, before the 18-year-old Arsenal loanee immediately doubled the lead.

The England Under-21 international scored the second goal for the home team. Gouri scored his second goal of the night in the 75th minute, tapping in Timothy Weah's cross to effectively seal the victory.

Lens later pulled one back through substitute Ryan Fofana, but it proved to be nothing more than a consolation.

Finding first-team opportunities limited at Premier League leaders Arsenal, Nwaneri joined Marseille on loan until the end of the season on 23 January.

The teenager enjoyed a successful 2024/25 campaign with the Gunners, scoring nine goals and earning a new five-year contract.
