The palace said Wednesday that President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. is still undecided on the fate of the Independent Commission for Infrastructure (ICI), which he created to investigate irregular public works projects.
Palace press officer Clarissa A. “We are still studying it – the reports provided are quite thick,” Castro said at a news briefing in Filipino. “We will be able to provide updates about what happens soon, and if the ICI continues, we will also provide their status.”
ICI presented its 125-day achievement report for the first time on February 6. Its fate remains in limbo as it awaits Mr. Marcos' decision.
The body, created under Executive Order No. 94 on September 11, 2025, was the President's first concrete step after exposing massive corruption among government officials and private contractors, especially on flood control projects.
According to the report, the body filed nine referrals involving 65 people with the ombudsman and coordinated referrals of 66 more individuals with the Justice Department.
