Mo Salah's blank fire sends Jungle out of the drop zone in Liverpool's 300th PL game

Nottingham Forest moved out of the bottom three after beating Premier League champions Liverpool 3-0 at Anfield on Saturday.

It was Liverpool's talismanic 300th Premier League appearance, and the Egyptian striker has struggled to find the back of the net as the Reds finish outside the top 10.

However, the win lifted Forest out of the bottom three as Sean Dyche's men dropped to 16th in the Premier League table with 12 points from 12 games.

Liverpool, now miles away from the PL title contention, suffered their sixth Premier League defeat in their last seven matches.

It looked like Liverpool had escaped a scare, but things got worse 39 seconds into the second half, with the only point of contention being how poor the defending was.

Neco Williams fended off a few half-hearted challenges before Nicolo Savona made it 2–0.

The visitors signed off by adding a third through Morgan Gibbs-White, who was stunningly headed in by Omari Hutchinson, who was ghosted by Andy Robertson as if he wasn't there.

As a result, the defending champions drop to the bottom half of the table, while Forest move out of the relegation zone after consecutive wins under new boss Sean Dyche.

The Anfield game also had its share of controversy. A fortnight later VAR intervened to prevent Virgil van Dijk's equalizing goal against Manchester City, which had been scored in similar circumstances.

This time, the technique failed to work when Murillo fired past Alisson while Dan Ndoye stood in an offside position.

The Premier League's Match Centre, however, said “Ndoye was not in Alisson's line of sight”, despite standing in front of him.

Forest should probably have been ahead by two when Igor Jesus volleyed into the far corner moments later, but on-field referee Andy Madley spotted a controversial handball – a decision which was approved by VAR.

“I'm surprised it's been rejected,” Michael Dawson said in Soccer Saturday.
