NGO launches 'Women & Company' in Nigeria to inspire health, climate resilience

To put women at the center of innovation for health and climate resilience, Pathfinder International has launched a new platform called “Women & Company Nigeria”.

The initiative, which was unveiled in Abuja, aims to bring together women leaders, innovators and changemakers to co-create and drive transformative ideas that strengthen systems, empower communities and shape a more equitable future for all.

Senior Media and Communications Officer, Pathfinder, Bayo Iwuola, in a press statement said the initiative builds on Pathfinder's six-decade legacy of improving health outcomes and promoting gender equality in Nigeria.

“Women & Company seeks to put women at the center of innovation and equip them with the capital, partnerships and influence needed to drive lasting change in their communities,” according to the statement.

Across Nigeria, women are already addressing some of the toughest challenges in their homes, communities and workplaces, said Amina Aminu Dorayi, regional portfolio director at Pathfinder International.

Dorayi also said that Women & Company is about amplifying that ingenuity, putting women in the driver's seat to design the innovations and systems that will shape the country's future in health, climate and development.

“This is not just a talk; it is a call to action, by centering women's leadership in innovation and development, Nigeria can accelerate progress towards equality, resilience and prosperity for all,'' she said.

Senior Special Assistant to the President on Women's Health, Adana Steinacker, confirmed that the initiative closely aligns with Nigeria's national agenda to promote women's health, equality and leadership.

“Women & Company’s mission aligns strongly with our priorities by building a community where women lead solutions in health, climate change, entrepreneurship and governance,” she said. “Women & Company embodies the kind of collaboration and creativity our country needs to renew systems and unlock new possibilities.”

The Nigerian launch follows the global unveiling of the platform at the United Nations General Assembly in September 2025.

The inaugural Women & Company in Abuja brought together women from different sectors and backgrounds to evaluate the current landscape of women leadership and decision making in the country.
