Governor Alex Otti of Abia State has flagged off the construction of the 13.5 Ariame-Usaka Ring Road in Ikuano Local Government Area (LGA) of the state.
Governor Oti, in an address at the ceremony at the Obema Ariam Model Primary School on Friday, said the fixing of the Ariam-Usaka Ring Road will signal the beginning of a new cycle of investment that will ultimately transform Ikwano to the next line of opportunities and prosperity.
He said the Ariame-Usaka Ring Road is specifically designed as an economic enabler for the people of Ikuano and the entire Abia at large, given the agricultural interconnectivity and general scope for entrepreneurship in the area.

He disclosed that his government plans to commence development design and implementation of other road infrastructure once the 2026 budget cycle is operational, adding,
“The bigger plan is to link the communities of Oloko, Oboro, Ibere and Eriam to each other and to the clans and communities in Bende, Umuahia North and South LGAs,” Governor Oti said.
He thanked the people of Equiano for their continued support since 2015.
“We have dedicated this entire day to Equano as our way of thanking your people for standing strong with us, believing in the sincerity of our campaign for a new political order, and thanking you for the significant sacrifices you have made to keep the ship afloat in days of great turmoil.
“Abia is better today because you insisted that our great state deserved better than it had yesterday.
The Governor assured the people of Ariyam-Usaka that the contractor will receive all possible assistance to complete the project within 12 months.
He said the project is dear to him because it has the potential to transform the economic and social experiences of the people, acknowledging that the area is one of the major agricultural areas in the state.

Governor Otti urged the people to remain steadfast in their support of his administration and refuse to be misled by those who thrive on dishonest communications and petty lies.
He commended the Commissioner for Works, Don Otumchere Oti, and the leadership team in the ministry for their culture of hard work and professionalism.
Senator Austin Akobundu, who represents Abia Central Senatorial Zone in the National Assembly, commended the governor for remembering his constituents with the flagging off of the project.
Works Commissioner Otunchechere Oti thanked the Governor for approving the construction of the road and enjoined the people to own the project.
