Payzantic raises $2M in pre-seed round to build payments infrastructure for an AI-native economy

Pagentic, a London-based startup building payments infrastructure for AI-native and agent-driven businesses, has raised $2 million (£1.6 million) in pre-seed funding to expand its team and accelerate product development.

The funding round was led by Middlegame Ventures, with participation from Anamkara Capital, Aperture, Angel Invest and Alan Morgan, Chairman of Edfisco.

Founded by Susan O'Neill and Samuel Alarco Cantos (pictured), Pagentic is tackling a rapidly emerging issue in the AI ​​software sector – the mismatch between variable compute costs and traditional fixed SaaS billing models.

While AI-native companies face extreme fluctuations in usage costs driven by model inference and API consumption, most lack billing systems that can scale dynamically with performance, usage, or results. Pagentic's all-in-one platform enables AI companies to offer hybrid, usage-based, and outcome-based pricing models, providing greater flexibility and control over monetization.

The company's launch comes as AI-native startups have collectively surpassed $15 billion in annual revenue, creating new demand for specialized financial infrastructure that can support complex, machine-driven transactions.

Co-founder and CEO Susan O'Neill said Pagentic was born out of frustration with rigid legacy systems: “We built Pagentic because traditional billing solutions break down when things get complex. AI founders lack the flexible infrastructure needed to effectively price and monetize their products. Our platform empowers AI companies to charge for what really matters.” “—and grow as fast as they innovate.”

Kanishk Walia, partner at Middlegame Ventures, said the company sees Pagentic as “the foundational infrastructure for the agent AI economy.”

Pagentic's platform converts AI agent actions – from signals to outcomes – directly into billable events, unifying billing, payment and pricing logic into one system. Designed for developers and product teams, it aims to remove the friction between experimentation, pricing, and revenue recognition.

Operating in stealth mode since early 2025, Pagentic has already onboarded a select group of early adopters, including ChessLabs, which offers AI-powered sales development reps (SDRs).

ChaseLabs co-founder Ed Gibbins said: “Our business depends on results-based pricing – we get paid if our AI generates SDR leads. Traditional billing systems couldn't handle this, but Pagentic understood exactly what we needed.”

With its platform now publicly available, Pagentic plans to expand access to AI developers, LLM infrastructure providers, and agentic frameworks, enabling them to launch, monetize, and scale their products faster.

As the AI-native economy matures, Pagentic aims to position itself at the intersection of fintech and intelligent automation, what the investor describes as “financial plumbing for the agent age.”
