PDEA-12 arrests 8 drug den operators

COTABATO CITY – Anti-narcotics agents on Monday arrested eight persons running a drug den in Kidapawan City in an operation that also resulted in the seizure of P102,000 worth of crystal meth (shabu), a .45 caliber pistol and explosives.

City officials and barangay leaders who assisted the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency-12 (PDEA-12) in conducting the law-enforcement operation said the group's leader, whose name they withheld in the meantime, resisted arrest but was eventually subdued and captured by PDEA-12 agents and policemen involved in the drug den raid.

PDEA-12 Director, Charlene R. Magdurulang said on Tuesday that all eight suspects, now confined in a detention facility, will be prosecuted for violations of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

The operation was launched after local authorities reported that the suspects were facilitating pot sessions in their drug den.

Ms. Magdurulang said she was grateful to local officials of Kidapawan City and PRO-12 director Brig. Gen. Arnold P. Ardiente to support their operation, which resulted in the arrest of eight suspects and the closure of their drug den, which is now guarded by volunteer community watchmen and barangay officials. – John Felix M.
