University of Perpetual Help overcame San Beda University with a gutsy 88-85 triple overtime (OT) win on Wednesday to advance to the quarterfinals of the NCAA Season 101 at the Filoil EcoOil Arena twice.
Patrick Sleight went scoreless with a team-best 23 points, including a key three-point play, in the third OT before fouling out, while Mark Gojo Cruz had a stellar performance with 20 points, including a huge triple late, as the Altas improved to 8-1 and got that vital boost in the quarter.
Another win would give the Las Piñas-based Dribblers the top seed in Group A, where they will play the two last-placed teams in Group B in a play-in for the last ticket to the quarters.
The result wasted rookie Agjanti Miller's career-high 28-point effort as the Red Lions fell 6-2 but maintained their hold on the Group B lead.
Earlier, San Sebastian College-Recoletos (SSC-R) defeated Colegio de San Juan de Letran 82-81 for its second win in nine matches.
This also gave the Stags the chance to avoid the play-ins and qualify directly for the quarters.
