PLDT uses Ciena's optical technology to boost PHL digital infrastructure

Ciena focuses on optical networks, data transmission and network management.

ADC is a low latency subsea cable that utilizes emerging technology and provides access to PLDT's hyperscale data centers such as its Vitro Sta. Roza.

ADC also complements trans-Pacific cables such as the Jupiter Cable System, which connects the Philippines to Japan and the United States.

PLDT is deploying Ciena's WL5e coherent optical technology to support multi-terabit traffic, enabling low-latency, high-capacity connectivity from the ADC landing station to its backbone network.

It added that Ciena's Navigator Network Control Suite will also enhance operational efficiency for PLDT's network by making network planning faster and simpler.

PLDT will continue to increase its digital investments to optimize enterprise operations through its corporate arm PLDT Enterprise.

At the stock exchange on Wednesday, PLDT shares closed at P1,112, up P2 or 0.18%.
