Qatar Airways and Emirates have temporarily suspended operations due to the closure of their airspace across the Middle East.
The disruption comes after US and Israeli attacks on Iran, which US President Donald Trump has described as a “major war campaign”, forcing airlines to re-route services that normally transit the region.
Qatar Airways Group confirmed that flight operations to Doha will be temporarily suspended until midnight UTC Saturday evening.
The airline said it will continue to work closely with government stakeholders and relevant authorities to resume normal operations once airspace reopens.
Additionally, Dubai-based carrier Emirates has also temporarily suspended flights to and from Dubai due to the closure of several regional airspaces, the airline announced on Saturday.
Emirates said it was actively monitoring the developments and engaging with the relevant authorities. The airline urged customers to check its travel updates and flight status pages before heading to the airport.
With missiles launched from Israel toward Iran and retaliatory strikes from Iran, carriers are turning away from the affected airspace, prompting countries including Iran and Iraq to close their airspace.
The move forced airlines to reroute or cancel several services, with Emirates also affected. Following the escalating conflict, several flights between India, Britain, Europe, the Middle East and North America also faced serious disruptions.
Qatar Airways said in a statement that once operations resume, passengers should expect delays, and are advised to check the latest flight information via qatarairways.com or the Qatar Airways app.
At Hamad International Airport, affected passengers are currently being assisted by additional ground staff deployed to manage the situation.
Qatar Airways said it is providing all necessary arrangements to ensure that every possible effort is made to minimize inconvenience during this disruption.
