Kwara State Government, in its continued drive towards realizing a sustainable renewable energy project, has conducted a technical inspection and survey of a viable extension of land proposed for a solar farm to boost socio-economic development across the state.
Speaking during the technical inspection of the site, the Commissioner for Energy, Abduaziz Kola Abdulgani explained that the inspection exercise was part of the state government's strategic efforts to identify technically and environmentally suitable locations for the deployment of solar energy infrastructure, with the aim of improving power supply, stimulating economic activities and enhancing the overall quality of life of residents.

According to him, the exercise is a follow-up to the earlier inspection of proposed sites across the state by representatives of Energy China and Nigeria Governors Forum (NGF) on November 13, 2025 and the recent inspection by the technical team of the ministry on December 18 at various locations for data collection and energy planning in line with the Nigeria Energy Commission, Energy China and Nigeria Governors Forum initiatives.
Abdulgani reaffirmed the commitment of the Governor of Kwara State, Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq to the development of clean, reliable and affordable energy solutions as a key driver of socio-economic development in the state.

“This inspection is part of a comprehensive assessment of several locations across the state to ensure equitable distribution of the benefits of the renewable energy project and guarantee its long-term sustainability,” the commissioner explained in a statement signed by the ministry's press secretary, Ruqayat Abdulhameed.
Responding, the Elerin of Erin-Ile, Oba Adebowale Adesoye Adetona I, commended the state government for prioritizing renewable energy development, describing electricity as fundamental to community development and economic advancement.
He assured full cooperation and support to the government for successful implementation of the project.
