The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has said that remembering Nigeria's fallen heroes should go beyond just laying wreaths and giving speeches.
The National Publicity Secretary of the party, Mallam Bolaji Abdullahi, said this in a statement issued in Abuja on Thursday to commemorate the 2026 Armed Forces Celebration and Remembrance Day.
Abdullahi said this moment demands reflection, presence and leadership that prioritizes the lives of Nigerians.
He said the ADC joins Nigerians in celebrating the day by honoring the courage, sacrifice and patriotism of those who made the supreme sacrifice in defense of the country.
However, Abdullahi was angry at the President's absence on such an occasion.
“The physical and moral presence of the Commander-in-Chief on this day is not optional; it is a statement of respect, responsibility and shared sacrifice.
He said, “ADC honors the martyrs, stands with the serving personnel and salutes the military families whose sacrifices have been unmatched for governance, strategy and national security.”
