Rico Hoey has put himself in strong position for a historic victory on the PGA Tour as he was just three shots off the pace entering the final round of the Bank of Utah Championship on Saturday.
Fil-Am shot an eagle-spiked eight-under 63 on moving day at Black Desert Golf Course in Ivins, Utah, raising his tally to 199 and moving him closer to American Michael Brennan, who leads at 196 after a third-round 64.
Mr Brennan, trying to become the first player to win on a sponsor exemption since Nick Dunlop at American Express last year, had a one-shot lead over defending champion Matt McCarty (198 after 64).
Mr Hoey, who shares No. 3 with Kevin Yu (63) and Pearson Coody (66), will play against Mr Brennan and Mr McCarthy in the top flight on Sunday (Monday Manila time) in search of their breakthrough on the prestigious circuit.
The 30-year-old Parbuster previously came close to victory at the 2024 ISCO Championships in Kentucky, where he made it into a five-man playoff for the title, but ultimately finished joint second.
Mr. Hoe is coming off a season-best finish at the BeCurrent Classic in Japan two weeks ago, coming in at No. 4 for his fourth top 10 finish of 2025. , Olmin Leyba
