Hear carols at The Peninsula

The Peninsula Manila celebrates Christmas in November with some of Manila's best choirs performing at The Lobby. On November 21, the Servus Dei Vocal Ensemble will perform. The carol-filled month will end on November 28 with the Mapua Cardinal Singers. The performances will be from 7 to 7:45 pm on those dates, with a minimum consumption amount of P1,500 for each guest dining in the lobby.

As part of the experimental sound scene, Jigar Cruz, Seething Mass (Arvin Nogueras + Maia Reyes), and Pau Martínez are gathering for a night of original compositions and improvised confrontations on November 22 at the Metropolitan Museum of the Philippines (also known as The M) at 8:30 p.m.th St., BGC, Taguig. See the Teatro Meron stage Ang Medea

THEATRO MERON PRESENTS Ang MedeaA restoration of Euripides' classic, the work of the late National Artist of the Theater Rolando S. Translated into Filipino by Tinio. Fresh from last year's sellout, this production returns with a cast of theater veterans led by Miren Alvarez-Fabregas as Medea, including Terroy Guzman, Yan Yuzon, Brian Sy, Joseph Dela Cruz, Katsky Flores, Gold Sun, Pickles Leonidas, and Joel Macventa. The director is Ron Capinding, founder and artistic director of Teatro Meron. The exhibit will run until November 28 at the Special Exhibition Hall of The Mind Museum, Bonifacio Global City. ENJOY THE TWIN BILL OF DULANG UP

A twin bill, titled Para's Tony: Tungo sa ginintuang alalaThe presentation of classic plays will pay tribute to Dulang UP's founder and National Artist of the Theatre, Antonio “Tony” Mabesa. The first part is staged Kalahating Oras of Isang Kumbento By Filipino playwright Wilfrido Ma. Guerrero as Lilia F. Translated by Antonio. The story follows Yolanda, a convent school student who seeks comfort and companionship after being expelled. University of the Philippines (UP) Diliman Theater Arts student Lloyd Sarmiento Uy serves as director. The second play stars National Artist Rolando Tinio May Cataviran and Cataviranabout a rich gentleman haciendero Who convinces his servant to accompany him on a trip to the mountains. The staging is directed by Theater Arts student MJ Briones. The production will run until November 30 at the IBG-KAL Theatre, UP Diliman.

City of Dreams Manila's centerpiece spotlight is on multi-hyphenate artist Janno Gibbs, who is set to perform on November 26 at 9 p.m. The singer, songwriter, actor and comedian is performing for the second time in the Centerplay Concert Series, featuring some of the best of local OPM (Original Pilipino Music). Mr. Gibbs is behind notable hit songs, including “Fallin',” “Binibini,” “Pinakmagandang Lalaki,” “Ipagpatwad Mo,” and “Sana Dalawa Ang Puso Ko,” among many others. TANGHALANG PILIPINO'S (TP) LATEST PRODUCTION FOR ITS 39th Seasons is a groundbreaking original musical that reimagines the life of revolutionary Gregoria de Jesus through the sound of Pinoy pop music. With music by Nika del Rosario and Matthew Chang and a book by Nicanor Tiongson and Elje Deldok, the show stars Marinor Mademila and is directed by Delfin Buencamino. It will continue until December 14, with performances at 3 and 8 pm at the Tanghalang Ignacio Jimenez (CCP Black Box Theatre), CCP Complex, Pasay City. VIP tickets are priced at P2,000 while regular tickets are priced at P1,800.
