Nigeria's U17 women's team, the Flamingos, booked their place in the Round of 16 at the 2025 FIFA U17 Women's World Cup in Morocco after an impressive 4-0 win over Samoa in Rabat.
Queen Joseph scored twice to take her tally of goals in the tournament to three, while captain Shakirat Moshood converted a penalty in the first half and defender Azizat Oduntan scored a superb goal from the wing.
After a 4–1 defeat to Canada and a close loss to France, the Flamingos knew that only a convincing win would ensure qualification, and they performed in style.
Joseph opened the scoring in the 13th minute, before Moshood doubled the lead from the spot following a handball from Holly Leapai.
Joseph added the third after good work from Ngumo Terlumun and Oduntan sealed the win midway through the second half.
The win ensured bronze medalists Nigeria advance to the knockout stage of the tournament at the 2022 edition in India.
