Summary: The head of Google's Android XR team has performed Android XR on the company's prototype smart glasses. These smartglasses will eventually be released by Samsung, it seems. This video performance shows what elements appear on the lens of these smart glasses, reduce various Gemini functions, and some other details.
Google has decided to give us a chance to see Android XR in action on the company's prototype smart glasses. This happened during the TED2025 conference. It follows the initial appearance of IZADI in TED2025.
As a reminder, Android XR was announced by Google in December. Google also shared a video back, showing us some examples of what the software looks, and what it would be able to do.
Google has decided to show us the demo of Android XR on the prototype of its smart glasses.
Well, to provide more information, Google arranged this demo. If you are interested, you can watch the video below. In this, you will see Shahram Isi of Google, who led the performance.
Nishth Bhatia helped him demo the glasses, who were on his face. In this demo, you will see a lens that displays Android XR, and what will it look like before your eyes. It was also discovered that these lenses support a leaflet, by the way.
The pair showed what speakers notes appear on these glasses, and it was also confirmed that the glasses could connect to a smartphone and use “all your phone apps”.
Mithun had a role during this performance
A lot happened during this performance. For example, Gemini was called to generate haiku. Mithun was also asked to talk about what it sees, in this case, it was asked about something specific.
The nose has changed briefly, and then a few seconds later asked Mithun what he saw. He asked if Mithun had caught “the title of the White Book on the shelf behind me”. Gemini was able to recite it immediately.
The pair also demolished some translation capabilities. Nishtha started talking in Hindi, and Mithun then replied in Hindi, without any settings needed to be changed. Navigation was also performed on these prototype glass, and more. Note that these smart glass will probably be released by Samsung, possibly next year.
